Big Brother Naija (BBN) has been one of the most fascinating pieces of reality TV in Nigeria and Africa. Over the years, we have witnessed incredible drama, betrayal, love, gbas gbos, and friendships that have stood the test of time. Let’s look at some of the best seasons of BBN over the years.
5. See Gobe
See Gobe was the second season of the Big Brother Naija TV show, and viewers were in for a treat with the antics of the “Based on Logistics” crooner Efe Ejeba. He captivated us with his love dynamic with Bisola and his street slang. See Gobe was a must-see TV, and everyone who genuinely remembers that season enjoyed it. We even got a big reveal when Thin Tall Tony, who was married and still had a relationship inside the house with Bisola. The level of drama and intrigue was second to none, putting it on our list of favorite BBN seasons of all time.
4. All Stars
The just concluded season was another one for the ages, as the amount of scheming and conniving that took place was outrageous. Seyi Awolowo was severely dragged online after his actions in the house against his fellow housemate. All Stars was a perfect blend of ex-housemates, and the star power alone was too much to handle as personalities clashed. Amidst all the drama, a beautiful love story was born between Angel and Soma—something no one could see coming. Even down to the eventual winner, this season was one of the most controversial in recent times.
3. Double Wahala
CeeC and her drama were worth more than double wahala. Her antics throughout the season were one of the highlights. CeeC was even named Nigeria’s most bitter woman after the show, where she had several issues with housemates like Lolu, Tobi, and Miracle. The dynamics of the scheming master Lolu also eventually caught up with him as he got evicted.
2. Lockdown
The title truly lived up to its name, viewers were served one of the best seasons ever filled with twists and turns. A highlight of the season was Vee’s facial expressions in the epic Nengi and Ozo’s unrequited love saga. Let’s not forget the whole Laycon and Erica saga. It’s hard to believe it’s been more than four years since then, but that was the golden era of BBN. Kiddwaya scattered the Saturday night parties with his famous legwork and crazy dance steps.
1. Pepper Dem
It lived up to its name, “Pepper Dem,” as the rodo was everywhere. The heated rivalry between Mercy and Tacha was a key storyline, which later culminated in the eviction of Tacha after she laid hands on the eventual winner. Her fans and viewers still believe that Tacha would’ve won had she not been disqualified. Aside from that, various plot points played out as Nigerian men watched in awe as Mike, who was married, stayed faithful to his wife throughout the show. It was a wonderful sight to behold and a lesson for men.
Each season brings its unique blend of drama, entertainment, and life lessons, captivating millions of viewers across the continent. Whether it’s the unforgettable moments of “See Gobe,” the star-studded “All Stars,” the lockdown escapades of “Lockdown,” the intense drama of “Double Wahala,” or the fiery rivalries of “Pepper Dem,” BBN has consistently delivered compelling television that keeps audiences eagerly anticipating the next season as we all await what the new season holds. Big Brother Naija is here to stay, leaving an indelible mark on the landscape of African reality TV.
