Wizkid has been teasing his new album, Morayo, and fans around the globe can’t wait to get a taste of it. Here’s a ranking of his top five albums to date:
1. Ayo
Wizkid’s second studio album, Ayo, is arguably his best project to date. Featuring 19 tracks, Ayo showcases a blend of everything. It captures the Afrobeat legend at the peak of his powers. Ayo had a host of amazing tracks, from “Jaiye Jaiye,” “Ojuelegba,” and “Joy.” This album was a masterpiece.
1b. Superstar
It’s hard to choose between Ayo and Superstar. Wizkid’s debut album under EME Records, owned by Banky W, is a 17-track masterpiece. With evergreen songs like “Pakurumo,” “Holla at Your Boy,” “Tease Me,” and “EME Boyz,” Wizkid’s burning desire to take over the Afrobeats scene is evident.
3. Made in Lagos (Deluxe)
Made in Lagos (Deluxe) is his most successful album in terms of streams, breaking numerous records and earning two Grammy nominations. This album catapulted Wizkid to new heights globally, with the hit song “Essence,” featuring Justin Bieber and Tems, reaching the Billboard Top 3 and winning several awards.
4. Sounds from the Other Side
It’s almost a disservice for this masterpiece to be ranked so low, but such is the level of Wizkid’s body of work. Featuring collaborations with Drake, Chris Brown, and Tyga, this album marked Wizkid’s entry into the upper echelon of artists worldwide.
5. More Love, Less Ego
This album marked a new era for Wizkid as he transitioned from traditional Afrobeats to a more melodic R&B style. While it’s an amazing body of work, the quality of the albums above places it in this position.
The Afrobeats icon continues to evolve his sound and is ready to make a grand entry into the scene again with the highly anticipated release of Morayo.
